BST Pet Soloing Guide!

I've been wanting to make a nice guide for bst pet soloing for some time now. That time has finally arrived! If you have access to a 2nd character to power level this is the only way to exp. You don't have to deal with noob parties, you can exp whenever you have time, and the exp is always amazing. BST pets are great because the beastmaster beastman will resummon his pet within one minute of its death and these bst pets have very little HP letting you take them out quickly. Spots with more than one beastmaster mob are ideal and you'll watch the exp fly by. I leveled my MNK from 34-71 in two weeks using this method, thats on top of going to class and what not. Please note that this may not work very well for jobs which do not deal damage in a rather short amount of time. Also, if you do not like to die, this is not the method for you. Pulls and camps can be very dangerous. It is important with every beast pet that the master does not see you pull its pet or it will come after you as well. Pets can however be pulled as soon as they are summoned, from behind (these pets will apear to be inside of the master).
EDIT 1/20/08: Lower level camps have been added.

Recap in Pictures

Here's a recap of the past few months in pictures (mostly). Haven't posted for a while so I won't go too far back.

Here's some stuff I've gotten over the past few months:

Went 1/2 on the Altruisitc. Finally got the Merciful after at least 60 tries.

Here's some stuff that other people got:
A Nid from a few days ago

Ore in his new E body

Cyphun in his new E body

Cyphun in his A body he got a while a few months ago.

Great Katana attestation for Sen who's now on stage 4.

Here's a Ridill we got a few days ago which went to Ashira who doesn't even have a job to equip it! Well I guess she'll be able to equip it on SAM in one level but that still doesn't count. Just about everyone in TK has a Ridill now.

GOODRATS GOT HIS MAAT'S CAP!

Now for some random shots:

I finally was able to get the killing blow on this fuck during Sen's attestation run.
TEACH YOU TO RIDE GALKAS BITCH!

Mizz warning me about getting AIDS from sleeping with Kaeko.

Sen and I jumping on my bed after I gave him some serious guy on guy action for his birthday. lol

How gay are we? lol

Here's a conversation that shows a tick we played on Sakurato after she logged in just as we were killing KA. It's a LS pastime to play tricks on her! As you can see, we really had her going good! Every time we get a drop that someone wants we start bidding on the item and the person willing to go the highest wins and spends whatever amount of points they won the bid with. We started off bidding to really convince her and went from there. She was even sending me tells!

The Jolly Green Galka (Finally an Update!)

Slaut
Well it sure has been a busy month or so since my last update (I sure am slacking). With so much to cover I'll mainly be using pictures to express recent events. Let's see now... where to begin.
Well my quest towards a Maat's cap has taken a few steps recently. I finished my DRK to 75 a bit ago and jumped right into a static party with some friends on my WHM. The result of this static was another 75 job in less than two and a half weeks (we started at level 37). This was by far the fastest I'd ever leveled a job in a static, usually it gets hard to round everyone together for certain times and they tend to drag on for a while. Luckily for us the entire static was comprised of insane people who would log in another's character if they weren't around, just for the sake of our exp! I had Kaat on WHM logged in the entire time healing from the outside to ensure that MP was never an issue and we would never have to rest, Goodrats practically leveled Baroom's BRD all the way to 75 for him while playing his own PLD, Oreeooo played two WARs for 75% of the static (his own and Ingeniousweapon's), and Cyphun... well he got to be the lazy one leveling up his MNK to 64ish then switching to DRG to 75 (I know we're such good friends). On a more recent note Goodrats and I are almost 66 on BST when we will be starting a new job. After BST I am 11/15 on Maat's cap jobs and Ratty is 14/15, If all goes well he should have his cap by the end of this month!

Hmmm let's see what next... How about Nyzul Isle? Our group continued it's farming of boss floors and we began to get annoyed when it came to the drop rate. Sometimes we'd get drop after drop, other times we'd go four runs with squat! With this being said we decided to say screw it and just complete our first disk and make our way to floor 100 (where we got shafted again!). Ratty and I went DRK for the final run and completely destroyed Hydra on the 100th floor.
At least we got some nice pieces for people along the way, and we've already started on a new disk.
Btw Goodrats does look pretty damn adorable in Denali gear (in a totally non-homosexual way!).
He likes to call these his PJs!

The floor 100 clear granted us these items:

Neither of which anyone was too thrilled about. Derek took the gun since he was the only COR among us and I lotted with Cyphun for the hat since neither of us really wanted it that bad. Everyone wanted either Denali or Askar so of course we get Goliard!

We did JoL at some point in the last month and Oreeooo and I tanked it on RDM. Since joining TK I've had a chance to tank a lot of things a lot of different ways. It definitely keeps things interesting. We popped two in all and both went very smooth and both drops were kinda to us (In the 4-5 JoLs I've done since joining TK, every one has dropped Novio).

Pretty much the last BLM item Kaeko needed and he's been waiting a long time for it. Congratulations!

I can't even remember who the second earring went to, Yuchi took it and handed it out to them at a later time. Gowron got the torque though.

We did a few Ouryu runs one night (super late). I could only stay up for two of them, but I finally was able to get rid of the Cloud Evoker that has been collecting dust in my Mog House for almost two years. Same boring drops as always.

Our in house Dynamis has been getting really lucky on drops recently. We usually go every Saturday night around 9:00pm EST, but sometimes the JPs do super early morning runs during the week (for the NAs at least). A few weeks ago my crazy ass was still up at like 5am and they were talking about going on a run, so I decided I's stay up for it, definitely a good decision.

Because it was a spur of the moment middle of the week run no one there had BLM #1so I was able to lot on it and then this happened:

I was so lucky that it dropped when it did and that I had the highest lot!
The way TK Dynamis works is like this: Before a run you set 3 prios, If an AF drops and you have it #1 you lot on it, if no one has it #1 then the people with #2 lot on it and so on. Once you get an item it never leaves your list, so this means that I can never place a different AF as my #2 priority. Simple system and works well, most the the AF goes free lot anyway, with the exception of RDM and BLM hat.
Had some insane drops in our most recent Xarcabard (2 RDM and 1 BLM). Funny thing was that we were mainly doing it to kill the Scythe NM for Aruberu's relic. I lost the lot on both RDM. but my time will come!

So in my last post I talked about how I was only 12 points away from getting the last A body. Well knowing you're next for something is definitely a double-edged sword. It's really great to know that no matter what, as long as you're there, you are going to get that item at some point. On the other hand, every time you watch another LS claim you get a feeling of dread, or there's that rush you get when your LS claims and probably an even worse feeling of dread when you watch D feet fall into the treasure pool! We got back-to-back Aspis and both did a number on playing with my emotions!

I don't have a screenshot of the 2nd drops, but all you need to know is that yes... I was DFEETED twice in a row!

And now on the the exciting conclusion (I really need to update more so these posts aren't so long)
There was an emergency maintenance announced to take place right after the king windows were up on day. These maintenances all the time really weren't helping me with the king resets all the time, but on this day we were given a break. Nidhogg popped and we claimed it, just hours for the servers were due to go down.
I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

THE END

Oh what a night! (morning really)

Tuesday night into Wednesday morning turned out to be a really productive time for the linkshell! We started out at Aspi camp. Adaman popped 7th window the day before and of course it was going to go back-to-back 7th. Luckily HQ popped and I CLAIMED! I didn't even realize I claimed until I was told by my linkshell members after we killed it. I guess I was caught up in the moment and excited.

Here's a bit of the chat log afterwards when they told me I claimed.

Here's what the silly turtle left behind:

And the winner was...

Resulting in a jumbo sized green tarutaru!

At the request of Oreeooo, I've decided not to include his gimp BRD gear in here :p
Congratulations you crazy bastard, well deserved!

KB window was right after we killed so we ran there. Nothing special to report though, it was NQ again.
A few hours later we moved on to Nidhogg and got a nice treat: A first window pop and another claim for us!

Once again the results were pretty damn good!

This body went to Gyamada who had only 12 points on me! Congratulations to a fellow Galka!

As of right now it looks like I may be next, but it kinda depends on if some of the Japanese who don't play that often and have a ton of points happen to be online for the next one. I'm extremely happy to even be this close to getting one after only two months in the linkshell, not in any rush :)

I've been on a bit of a claiming run lately, waiting for some bot accusations. I claimed King Arthro yesterday and what made it even sweeter was that he dropped a belt, this was the first time I've seen him drop a belt (speed or velocious)

Congratulations to Ryuzi and his new belt!

Moving on... I got a rare exp invite on my DRK (I really need to finish that job already) and I ran into some interestingly noobish questions which really made me laugh, enjoy!

/joy!

This is going to be a short post with mainly pictures! Bust times coming up with me finishing the 2nd summer session of classes and moving back to Pittsburgh at the end of the week!

Finally got a good piece of AF from Dynamis after all the years I've been playing this game! Looks pretty damn sexy to boot! My PLD is pretty much done, with the exception of M body, but AF2 is just as good.

Pretty good Xarcabard run... we got PLD as shown above, SMN, SAM and this:

Congratulations Komuro!

I lied before when I said I was done with DRK until I was done with classes, took some time out to level it a little more... well a lot more hehe.

Yay for Ridill! So much amazing gear to look forward to in the levels from now until 75, I really can't wait!

Lastly, finally got Athruis his Askar body earlier in the week. Thank god I don't have to hear him go: "figures" or "just my luck" after every time it didn't drop anymore!

Congratulations you Scottish bastard!

Playing FFXI when I should Be doing work!

Slaut

Summer session number two is winding down and I have an insane amount of work to do before it's over and I get my four months of freedom before student teaching. In the next two weeks I have a 7-10 page paper, a 8-10 page paper, a 4-5 page paper, a class presentation, and a number of exams to look forward to. I really need to cut back my playing in these two weeks and remind myself that I'll have all the time in the world to play FFXI after they are over!

Been trying to get as much DRK leveling in as I can with LS events and classes. I had some free time Thursday night and Friday afternoon so I took advantage and got DRK from 60 to 65. I probably won't do anymore work on it until I'm done with classes, but once that time comes, it shouldn't take me very long to get 75.

Anyway... it's been a rather busy week in the world of Final Fantasy. We claimed all 3 kings this week and got some really nice drops. Aspi was the first. It was a late night NA time which usually equals to a free claim for TK. There were only a few members from other linkshells there at the pop. I went on NIN and had my first taste of tanking him. I was really surprised at his attack speed and ended up getting hit pretty bad in the beginning before I got the hang of it. We also had a ton of adds to start so that took everyones attention off of me until they were taken care of. It was definitely a good experience and now I'll be ready for that quick bastard next time! Sorry for not having any screen shots of the fight, but my windower needed to be rebooted. After getting D feet last kill we were rewarded with an A. body this time around. Congratulations Juilliard!

A few days later we claimed Nidhogg. This was also an early morning camp for NA, but that normally doesn't stop them from camping. I set my alarm to wake up for it, but when I woke up I had a bad migraine and felt it was better I go back to sleep rather than camp. When I woke up in the morning I found out that we claimed and Ryuzi got E. body. N. Legs also dropped and went to Rezo.

Now on to the weekend, which was extremely busy. Friday morning KB popped and we got the claim on him as well. Was a smoother fight than our last one, I think only one meteor went off. Drops were pretty shitty, but thats usually the case unless you get a defending ring.

Late Friday night we did Einherjar, which we do every Friday. We've been having really bad luck with mob sets in recent weeks, but this time we finally got a set that was winnable with the 18 or less members we usually have for it. Our mob set was melee bones, doomed, and the orobon boss. We won with only three minutes to spare, but a win is a win. We now have wins in two chambers. Really looking forward to the nerf in the next update.

Anyones else think that name of the doomed is a little wrong? lol

Orobon boss

Later that night we went to camp KA and claimed it. This was the first time I had actually fought it so I've deemed it blog worthy even though it didn't drop a belt. :(

Saturday was by far the busiest day of the week. When I woke up in the morning Yuchi was asking if anyone was interested in going to kill Hydra. I've only fought him once and it didn't end well, although it was fun nonetheless. I was told to come BRD (probably my least favorite job) but I still don't mind being on it. We took it down really fast, but his right head was being stubborn towards the end and just wouldn't stay off. It probably took us as long to take it from 10% to death as it did 100% ti 10%. Drops were nothing special of course, we pretty much did it for fun.

We had planned on doing Dynamis- Beaucedine later that night and about an hour before we were supposed to start Cerberus popped. We decided to rush and kill it within that hour. Quite a few Gates of Hades got off towards the end, probably because we were rushing too much, I dunno. We ended up killing it right at the Dynamis start time. No Algol this time, which is fine since no one really wants it.

Another LS was gathering for Beaucedine so we randomed with them and lost of course, so we went to Buburimu instead. The run went well, there were a few sketchy pulls and one wipe, but not bad considering our numbers. Pretty nice drops as well: BRD hands -1, PLD hands -1, MNK hands -1, 2 BRD capes, DRK cape, and a DRG belt.

As soon as Dynamis was over the NA members did our Limbus, which was Omega. Oreeooo and I went NIN/DRK. This was our first time tanking Omega, we've been going NIN a lot with Senrez and Demetrius not around much lately. I'm starting to really enjoy NIN and Omega was very easy compared to other big NMs.

YAY! I've been wanting these for my PLD for a while. Really happy to finally have them and can't wait until my DRK can wear Homan gear! I'm now 4/5 on Homam, just need the body which really isn't a big deal at all. Thanks to everyone who was there!

Summer Classes = Bad Idea

Yeah so... I haven't been updating this like I planned to because of the massive amount of work from my summer courses. Taking summer courses was a terrible idea, but I really didn't have much of a choice since I already had a lease for my apartment and only needed a few credits to finish up my normal classes. After the summer I'll be done except for a semester of student teaching starting in January, which I will be doing back home in Pittsburgh! I can't wait to go home! Anyway, before that I'll have 4 months of being a total bum and playing FFXI like crazy (I'm a loser for being excited about that, I know). Alright, enough about real life stuff! Finally finished the current ToAU storyline after much nagging from Athruis. He's very persuasive... only because he bothers you so much until you just say fuck it and give in so he'll shut the hell up. Took a pretty cool shot of Odin from one of the cut scenes, Odin has always been one of my favorite Final Fantasy staples. Now just gotta wait for whenever SE actually decides to finish the missions.

Despite all my classes and school work, I've managed to keep myself pretty busy in game. We claimed the most recent Aspi pop and got none other than D feet! /joy! Such a kick in the balls when that happens, especially with A body being a highly sought after item in TK.

In my free time away from HNM camps I've been leveling DRK again. Continued the trio static I had with Goodrats and Cyphun (all of us on DRK). We started back up at 51 and flew to 57 in one night. After that, trio exp off of beast pets got pretty shitty so we decided to split up. I went back out a few days later and got it to 60 where it will probably stay until I'm done with my summer classes.

On Saturday night, LATE NIGHT (fucking Senrez), we did Ultima. We were having some problems with members not showing when they were supposed to. Kaeko wanted to try something a little different this time and had me go PLD/NIN to support tank with Oreeooo on NIN/DRK. Worked out very well, every WS Ultima did to Oreeooo was chance for me to build more hate with a quick Cure IV. I probably would have had better hate if my connection wasn't trying to DC me every 5min. Anyway, it was fun to try something different and get a chance to play my PLD for a change. He only did one countdown before we beat him and I ate Citadel Buster with plenty of HP to spare. Drops were double feet which went to Ashira and Kainsen. Congrats you two!

I'll leave you with a funny conversation we had in party/linkshell chat yesterday at Behemoth. Myshella is a Japanese player and didn't know the meaning of STFU. We were trying to convince her that it was a affectionate term, but she wasn't buying it and looked it up online haha.

Everyone has the Picture of the Day at the end of their posts so I figured I'd jump on the bandwagon!

Having Less and Less of a Real Life...

Slaut
Sunday was a busy day!
Had some free time yesterday afternoon, so Cyphun and I took that time to go out to Mire and duo imps on our 74 jobs (Cyphun BLU and myself on RDM) to finally get them 75. Took a few hours, but it was well worth it when we both ended up getting our levels. I actually leveled just in time right before an event, so I really need to do at least one more party for a nice buffer.

Getting RDM to 75 makes it my 8th 75 job, Cyphun isn't far behind with 7. Here is a list of my current job levels, I think finishing DRK will be next on the list of things to do.

Pretty much right after getting 75 the linkshell decided to go to sea for Jailer of Love. It had been a long time since I fought JoL so I was looking forward to it, especially when I was told to come WAR/THF, but I was also a little confused about our strategy for the fight. This is where the language gap kinda comes into play between the NAs and JPs. Anyway, it had probably been two years since the last time I used a Great Axe on WAR, but I have to admit I had a good time despite dying four times from TP moves.

This was the best Steel Cyclone I pulled off during the fight, I had a few others which were close.

Pretty nice drops, no torque or novia, but at least we got JoL's most sought after item which ended up going to Ryuzi. Congratulations to him on a sexy earring!

Right after the items were sorted we all hauled ass to Dragon's Aery for Faf/Nid. Before first window Yuchi said that is there was an early pop we would either to more JoL or some Kirins. Lo and behold Fafnir popped 2nd window and we didn't get the claim so we took a vote in linkshell for JoL or Kirin and Kirin won. Keeping up with the trend of the day (me playing random jobs I never use, in end game at least) I was asked to come SAM. This was only the 2nd time I have been on SAM since I got 75 about 5 months ago. I was pretty excited about getting a chance to play around with it on Kirin.

I got pretty owned here:

We ended up doing 3 total. I was weakened at the end of the first fight and out of party so I don't have a screenshot of the drops but they were D. body and Shining cloth. We actually got a cloth on all three kills, which I have never seen before.

                                                    Kill #2                                                                                                                Kill #3

Monday has been a pretty uneventful day so far, most of my day is usually taken up by classes anyway. Managed to get a few Nyzul Isle runs in today, but we didn't have luck on our side. We did three body runs, two didn't drop and we timed out on the boss during the third run. Cerberus is by far the hardest boss in Nyzul.

Dead Doggy

I'll leave you with a sexy PLD. COngratulations to Dio who recently completed his relic shield.

Nyzul Isle and RDM 74

It's been a pretty busy weekend so far and I finally was able to catch up on some sleep (13 hours out cold). Friday afternoon my Nyzul Isle static group did four feet floor runs on Freonski's disc so we could save up tokens on Goodrats (his is on floor 81). Every time we do a body run we end up losing a few hundred tokens. Can someone tell me why SE charges more tokens to enter than you receive when you beat 5 floors? Anyway, we got to the boss all four times and had Fafnir the first 3 times. One of our Fafnir's did only wings for tp moves for 400+ damage to everyone each time, rather annoying to say the least.

Fafnir was being a stingy bastard, but we got Adamantoise on the 4th run and he was much more kind to us:

Pretty nice piece for my PLD on the rare occasion that I'm actually on the job.

Went out to exp my RDM today in a static party with some friends. We've been pretty bad at getting everyone together at one time to go an exp lately so I'm really looking forward to finishing it up. Cyphun, Athruis, and myself attained level 74 while Goodrats and Freonski got pretty close. Hopefully sometime tomorrow we can finish them off.

Finally, Athruis was complaining to me that he wasn't anywhere in my last post so in honor of him here is a tell he sent me. And yes this is the norm for him! :p

The Last Month or So...

Slaut
Alright, I'm finally getting around to updating this thing, and I'm making a promise to myself that I will be more active with making posts. Hopefully once a week, but we'll see how that goes. A lot has changed recently. I have moved on from WoopaTroopas to TeamKANICAN along with Cyphun in a decision that was difficult to make, but I'm not going to get into that too much here. I just wish them the best of luck.

Anyway, there's way too much to go over since my last post so I'm just going to give a quick summary of what has been going on in recent weeks. Been keeping myself pretty busy in game for the most part, as well as in real life with my summer courses taking up a lot of my time away from the game. Some of the things which have been keeping me busy have been: Salvage, Limbus (Ultima/Omega mainly), Nyzul Isle, king camps, Tiamat, Cerberus, Dynamis, etc...

First off, I've had a pretty nice run of crafting luck recently HQing three hecatomb synths in a row, hands, feet, and legs. The feet and hands where done back to back, while the legs were done a week later, but no other heca synths were done in between. Feet and hands were made for Freonski, who just wanted to craft some Angel skin he had farmed to sell for more profit. We decided that we'd split the profits. The legs were actually made by Cyphun, who logged me on while I was in class to craft an skin he had laying around. We also decided to split the profit from the legs. In the end I've been able to stock up a nice chunk of gil from these unexpected HQs.

Since joining TK I've had the chance to use my NIN a lot more than I have used it in the past and I actually starting to really enjoy it (when I'm not lagging). I've had the chance to tank a few Fafnirs, a Nidhogg, and a Tiamat. I'd have to say that Tiamat has been my favorite to tank so far, hopefully I get some more chances at him. I definitely wasn't perfect, but I think I did a pretty good job for a first time.
btw tbh grats irl asap Payu.

Back to back Gaiters drops. Last pair went to Pokorny, this pair went to Nermal.

We've been keeping busy with Limbus two days a week and usually Salvage 2-3 times a week depending. Payu is definitely a Salvage Nazi! Haven't really seen anything worthwhile drop yet, we've had some pretty bad luck in that department, although, we did get Kaeko the final piece he needed for Morrigan head. Two Omega runs have yielded two heads (of course), two hands, and one body. Our Ultima drops were pretty awesome: head, body, and legs.

This stupid door popped 100 Chigoes and 0 NMs!

Nyzul Isle has been pretty kind to my static group lately, going 5/5 on drops in our last 5 boss runs. So far we have 4 feet (1 goliard, 1 askar, 2 denali), 1 leg (askar), 1 hand (denali), and 6 body (2 goliard, 1 askar, 3 denali) drops.

I've finally started to do Dynamis after over 3 years playing this game and we had a pretty nice Xarcabard run recently. Best part of the run was a prediction by Saku which came true.

Finally I'll leave you with a shot of this morning's Fafnir which I woke up at 4am for... woot NIN!

Since Steve just basically gave up on posting on this thingy. I think I will for a bit. Woopas is coming along really good we've beaten pretty much everything but Tiamat, Hydra, Khy. I'm pretty confident we can beat anything thrown at us. As for drama we dont' have very much ocassional arguement on vent, if it's just guys nobody even cares about it the next day.

My friends and I have been talking about starting up a HNM/sea linkshell from scratch and I finally gave in and started it up recently. We spent a few days gathering up a core group of close friends and friends of friends and set our first event for the Fafnir after the 10 hour maintenance on Tuesday. We have about 25 total members and we're off to a good start. We didn't get the claim on the first day, but we got pretty lucky on our second day of camping when Fafnir popped first window before the other Linkshells arrived from the KB camp.

Not much to say today well, finally got around to doing monk af3 with Slautman with the help of Tayter got my Xalmo feather. Not really a fan of beating up indians but whatever. It made me sad to slay such a great creature... but we had to endure this journey in order to master the martial arts.

After that we just joked around on vent, but I was still saddened by the destruction of Huu Xalmo maybe he was like the Yagudo version of Martin Luther King. Our sins lay heavy upon us...... WELL ENOUGH OF THAT CRAP here's a screeny of us killing shit in mamool

Last but not least the funny screenies of the day

. . . Think i caught her in one of her moods rofl

Ulquorra
I don't really have anything to post atm on Steve's blog but I'll just introduce myself. I'm Kairia many people know me as Silvert. I'm a 75 Sam, Cor and Nigja on Odin server, and one of Steven's buds. (I like vagina and beer too) Starting today and whenever I get bored, I'm going to start posting on this live journal to ...um.... spice it up a bit I hope you enjoy. PS: my user pic is Ulquorra from bleach to easily distinguish me from Slaut.

What I look like in real life: Me with my Besty Kyndall!!!

The Early Bird Catches the Wyrm!

Slaut

Decided to do some KS99s today with ventrilo people in hopes of getting wyrm beards for myself and Freonski. I had never done it before so didn't really know what to expect, other than what I knew from Faf/Nid fights. Flying mid-fight is an interesting touch and definitely makes for an exciting battle, especially with 12 people.
